Many get a soaking, act funkified, if you've cleaned the garbage from the contacts I'd just let it dry out fully. Even go so far as to get an Costco sized bag of rice, a plastic bag to fit the SJB in, and a plastic storage container to seal everything into to try and dry the sucker out if this isn't the weekend/showpiece car.

Your talking about an $700+ part if I recall correctly. That does not include as-built information being put on it and the applicable labor charges. Unless you have an extended warranty, in which case, new SJB time!

I would also check the contacts on the wiring harnesses themselves seeing as it's gotten this bad for you. This has likely been going on for quite some time for your car. You should be able to clean those up as well with some minor effort to avoid the ***-r@ping that buying replacement OEM harnesses will bring should these also be corroded.

Well car has been at ford all day. They are dumbfounded. They are leaning toward the sjb but dont want to say that it is until they troubleshoot further. And they don't regularly stock sjbs, so it will have to be ordered when then decide if that is the problem.

Are they going to cover this under warranty?

What is a "sjb"?

Standard Junction Block?
System Junction Box?

Smart Junction Box. It is essentially the control center for the electronics for anything outside of the engine/power-train itself. Key fobs, door lights, etc, all controlled there for the most-part, or are at the very least, partially run-through, and switched.

No, I'm well out of Warranty. I've been quoted about 500-600 dollars. They won't get a new sjb in stock till Wednesday morning.

Ebay has some floating around for 100 bucks or so, I believe if you get your year 07-09 SJB, the dealer can program it for you. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

I thought about doing that but, wasn't sure and I've wasted plenty of money trying to do the cheap way before to only end up spending more to do it correct later, I'd rather spend the money and have it fixed right the first time. And the only one I found on fleabay for a 2007 was 240.00 free shipping. The new one from Ford is 303.00 + 210.00 labor and programing. So I'd rather eat the 60 bucks and be sure I got the right part the first time.

Well that makes sense, I was on a market for one at the beginning of this year, and I have seen several, cheap. (My car was also leaking as well). But I never really bought one, but I did make a note to myself that if I ever need one, then that would be a place to look.

But you know what.....I never realized this.....what if the car they took it off of, had a leak as well? They would never even know if SJB worked right. Lol I just contradicted myself.....

Is the dealership aware of the TSB? Not that they'd honor the SJB replacement under it since you're out of warranty, but they might offer to fix the leak.
