Default Before & After Taillight Tint

I got the kit in the other day from Headlight Armor and went ahead and put them on today. Very easy to install, fit very well.

Looks great.. I want to do that but just concerned about safety, because whenever i'm behind a car with darkened tails in the day, its twice as hard to see the brake lights

This. And when you get rear ended, good luck with the insurance company.

I have been behind cars WITHOUT tinted lights that you can not see in sunlight.

I want to do this too, anyone have any idea if it's legal in most places? Cops in some of the Chicago suburbs will pull you over for any minor thing so if it isn't legal I'll have to pass on it.

you can check your local laws to see if it is legal.
see what they inspect for at yearly inspections.
in my state it is illegal to mod any light in any way, but i do have all lights tinted and never been bothered by the popo's.
my tail lights are 20% tint overlays.

you can get DOT approved pretinted tail lights and headlights.
they aren't real dark, but they are smoked darker than stock.
i used those on my 2000 GT and it passes.

these are my 20% on the tails. i think they are not as dark as the OP's
with the brake light on, its pretty near stock brightness.

I was checking the laws and couldn't find anything. We don't have inspections in Illinois so either you find it in the laws or find out the hard why by getting pulled over. I might just call up the police station and hopefully don't get an attitude about answering the question.
