Amsoil Signature Series 5w-30, motorcraft filter. 1 year intervals (Everywhere I go is less than 5 miles away so I don't rack up the miles). In my Trans Am I used Mobil 1, no complaints on either oil.

Motorcraft filter and oil, same as what came in it new. Change it at 5k miles, never uses a drop between changes.

I used the Motocraft 5w-20 with Fram filters in my Ford Escape, changed every 3000 mi. The car has 175k on it right now, and still running great.

i have never had a fram filter give me any problems. Ran them every oil change on my nissan's. Granted i bought the Tough guard which is supposedly 6 times the protection then the regular filter.

But since i will be doing my first oil change on the stang on the 15th i think ill try and grab some amsoil if i can find it on this stupid island. If not i might go to my usual choice of oils......Gastrol EDGE. I love the oil and does great with the heat. Im also thinking about getting the BOSS 302 oil cooler installed with oil change?

No, not in the Stang. Not in my Porsche either. However, it was really easy in the Escape to go to Wal Mart every 3k and pull it in for 20 minutes while I was shopping to get the oil changed. Call it laziness. I rationalized that the Fram filters met warranty specs, so I couldn't be doing all that much damage. 175k miles later. . .

Mobile 1 oil with Motorcraft or PureOne filter. I get the oil in 5 quart jugs at Wallmart.. these 8 quart changes are expensive! I just go by the oil life indicator. Sometimes is says to change (I change when its at 20%) at 7,00-10,000.. sometimes sooner. This summer.. in this crazy heat, I had to change at around 3,000 based on the indicator.

How does the oil life indicator work (small hijack)? I was tempted to reset it to 100% when it was at around 30% just to see if it would go back to 30% after some driving.

ONLY use what the dealership would use. Check the owners manual. Lots of money is put into testing what oil runs best for ford. Motorcraft is what ford use. use motorcraft.
