Default Red Lined in a 10' Mustang GT

Hey guys, teaching my wife how to drive a stick and....you guessed it, she has a led foot and red line it in second. It didnt make any funny sounds or anything it, it nose dived like a **** tho. I was just wondering did it harm anything? She said when it nose dived it made the accelerator pedal unresponsive for a second until the rpm's went down. Let me know whats the deal with that guys.

No harm. The stock redline is 6250 RPM. Brenspeed set mine at 6800 but I lowered it to 6500 and I've bounced off the limiter numerous times. Other than embarassing, no harm done.

Thank you kind sir, embarrasing to say the least! Especially when I almost hit the dash on the passenger side. Nope, she just got it to move..shifted into second she felt alittle more power, then she floored it..Lmao and here we are. BAD JU JU! BAD!

That shouldn't have done any harm, assuming it was up to temp, should be a normal ritual with your car

Ive hit my rev limiter once.
For years I wondered what the fuss was about. Then, a few months back, I realized that its not too fun. In the past I must have done an awesome job of shift as Ive gotten close enough to where I figured I was pinging off of it but I guess I wasnt.

The reason the car nose dived when she hit redline is because the ECM shut fuel off or minimized it until the rpms came down. It's normal for that to happen. No harm done as long as it doesn't sit there in neutral for a long time.

if I dont reach redline once per day, I probably didnt drive that day...:P
just dont ping off the limiter constantly. I didnt wind up hitting it until like 3 months after I got the car, wound up just magically shifting right before I hit it

Took me a couple weeks of driving mine to stop bouncing it off the rev limiter.
