If the car is in good running and overall physical condition, the OP should be able to get $7k easy provided he doesn't wait too long to put it on the market. A clean, low mileage '05 V6 can fetch $10k-$12k in the right market.

My question is, since it came out of a wrecking yard, does it now carry a Rebuilder/Unknown title. Any time the State issues a title for those type transactions, require this. Your state may be different than mine, but they are fairly universal accross the country. If so, then the value is cut by half. Just wondering.

Hope your plan is to fully disclose condition to buyer. Its one thing to buy a car with an engine you know is questionable vs spun bearing two weeks later and your vapor.

wcgman: I am in the Denver area and no way. For a total of $800 that I will invest into this thing, I'm selling it for 6-7000 and am turning that around on a downpayment for a smoking hot mustang.
Chromeshadow: the steam is coming from the thermostat valve, I will replace that for $100 ish and go from there.

Step 1. Replace the thermostat, seal any leaks then Slick50 and SeaFoam the hell out of that thing.
Step 2. Clean it up, shine it up and take pictures for Craig's List.
Step 3. Profit!

My $650 2005 Mustang
Good afternoon.
I wanted to update everyone on this epic buy and great deal.
Rundown: Family friend owns a Tow Truck Company, that company had possession of a car that was never claimed, state law allows for the title to now be in their name.
Title was given to the company.
I now have the title.
Story: Car over heated, freeze plug game out on passenger front of the engine, teenage girl poured coolant into the engine oil. Made it about 20 miles to a rest stop, got a ride home.
Colorado State Patrol took the car. Gave the car to Tow Company.
I take it off her hands.
Now: I flushed the engine, replaces the thermostat housing and thermostat, added radiator fluid, treated the gas.
Car runs a LOT better but idle is rough. The RPM gauge will show 6,000 when it is not at 6,000 when I rev it up and let it drop (while in park). It loses RPMs and dies after driving it.
Any ideas?
