Default Staggered tire size question...

Hi all,

Am looking at new tires for the spring (summer performance tread) and am thinking about going staggered look. For those of you that have done this are you happy with the stance and handling?

Specifically I want to go with fronts at 225/45/17 and rears at 255/50/17. This should have a nice staggered look and I don't think the slight difference in aspect ratio 45 vs 50 should be a problem for a non ABS 2006 car. That is...I don't think the computer will throw a code on this since front vs rear tires will turn at slightly different speeds. Do you guys know any reason I couldn't go with these sizes on my GT premium 17"s?

Thanks,

Tom

A lot of people on here have a staggered set up, including me. I see no reason why it would hurt.

Thanks Brandon!

What sizes do you run FR vs RR?

your rear tire is going to be noticeably taller than the front...

i would go with the 255/45 275/40

225/45/17 and 275/40/17 both come in at just over 25"...too small diameter on these cars and will not look good imo.
It would be tuff to stagger with these wheels man, I would just go with 255/50/17's all around and call it a day.

I'm running 245/40 in the front on 18x8
and 285/35 in the rear on 18x9.5
My tires are Nitto 555s (I highly recommend these)

Personally, I love having staggered tires. Gives these cars the stance that I think all muscle cars should have. Your handling isn't going to be too greatly impacted, especially if it's your daily driver. However, if you take it to the track it will throw off the balance of your car, at least in my experience. Will cause your car to push a lot more in the corners, and will cause the rear to disrupt a lot harder if you clip an apex.

As far as tires though, I've only owned Nitto 555s and I love them.
