I think you missed my point. I agree with you. I also think few Ford dealers will follow the TSB exactly. Can you imagine Ford techs letting the car cool down to ambient temp overnight just to change plugs?

Just finished. On the plus side, never needed the extractor! All 8 came out, although 5 and 6 were a little tough going for a while, but they came out. Plugs had a fair amount of carbon on them.

Let the car sit overnight, followed the TSB exactly, and nothing broke. Some plugs just took more effort than others. Job took about 3.5 hours, but I was taking my time and I had to remove the supercharger inlet arm (covered 7 and 8).

All in all, not too bad a job.

I was with you...just explained my mechanic friends's thinking on not letting it cool...he seemed to indicate it was normal practice among the guys who actually do the work...so I am betting you are correct in your thought...

Shouldn't we all be pissed off at the engineers who turned spark plug removal into a stressful day capped with a TSB?
