With stock displacement (281), you will be pushing it to get 400 HP at the crank, and even there you are beginning to loose drive-ability as a street car. What mods were you looking at ?

CAI, full x-pipe exhaust, + tune, americanmuscle.com says that dynos to about 300 rwhp. idk what else i should get, all the cars i owned i only done exhaust and intake. i hear the stock headers, heads and intake are good so dont need to replace them with aftermarkets. and UDP only frees up a little power

basically i just want to beat the grand prix gtp cars in my town. they have like 433hp at the wheels and do really good at our track but its only a short race. how can they push 433 to the wheels and maintain drivability as a street car but we cant? do u think the GT is faster in the long run?

I just realized I was talking about the wrong car totally...you were asking 06 GT auto. You can probably beat those GTP's now! If not, a CAI and tune will likely do it.

I think they are running 6.2L vs your 4.6L. When not in boost, displacement matters. If you don't want to go boost, maybe juice? Nitrous can get you even with them for short races.

1) your avatar thing says u r running a '98 V6. If u are then forget about 500. If u r running a 4.6 then those engines r very strong. But theres no way to get 500 hp out of a non boosted 4.6. At the crank or wheels. It's would take major major work on that engine. Without forged internals, it would be a bit stressed.

2) I'm a little curious as to where u heard 433 hp from a gtp. Those r v6's. Ya ik. They got a s/c but they start around 250. 433 just seems a bit high. Unless they have some big time mods.

3) from post #3 I can already tell u got some to learn. It's gonna take way more than a pulley swap to get to 400. Honestly, like someone mentioned earlier, u need a 5.0 coyote engine from 2011+. Those make 412 or 420 at the crank. Which is good for a stock motor.

4) no one is saying the 4.6's r crap. IMO the 4.6 is a great engine.
