Default Codes P0059 & P2197

Hey everybody,

So I just bought a used 2007 Mustang 4.6L V6 and I love it to death. It's my first newer vehicle that I have ever purchased. I am doing everything I can to treat her well but unfortunately the check engine light turned on and the codes that are reading are P0059 and P2197. I went to several different places to have it checked and they are all saying it is those same codes. So from what I understood It is the heated O2 sensor that needs to be replaced. I did that then reset everything multiple times after but the same codes still keep popping up with the check engine light illuminated. I am thinking I should see if I need to tighten the sensor, just to double check, but would any of you have suggestions as to what else I should do?

ok your confused, is it a 4.6L, or is it a v6

the v8 was 4.6L, the v6 was 4.0L.

Tightening the sensor probably won't do anything. If it was loose, you would hear an exhaust leak.

Are you sure you replaced the correct sensor. A lot of people confuse bank 1 with bank 2

Also, if you have the code description, that would help me help you

P0059 - HO2S Heater Resistance (Bank 2, Sensor 1)
P2197 - O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Lean - Bank 2, Sensor 1

those are the descriptions I have for those codes. I bought a bosch sensor, and I've been hearing that they do not work as well in Mustangs. is this true?

Yup replace the sensor and get on with it. If you are DIY, I've found them pretty cheap in the past on Amazon of all places...

Who said the Bosch don't work in mustangs? You realize that there are only two or three OEM O2 sensor manufacturers in the world. Bosch and Denso are two of them and I guarantee the Mustang has one of those brands if not both of them depending on the build date.

Alright, so I know it has been a while but I finally was able to get the right sensor and replace it. I did end up getting a Bosch from Auto Zone for way cheaper than what Ford was selling their Motorcraft one for. After replacing it I made sure everything was solid and then went ahead and erased the code, but unfortunately code P0059 still pops up after driving the car for a while. Any suggestions?
