Default Royal Purple vs Amsoil, and what's synchromesh?

The title sums up my questions pretty well.
I currently have 1,200 miles on my 2014 Mustang GT (manual).

1. I was debating between Full Synthetic Royal Purple versus Amsoil 5w-20 (cap recommended).

2. Then I looked up manual transmission oil and see Synchomesh (5w-30) and other special manual oils, another example is Transaxle Gear Lube 75w-90.
Should I be using special manual oil like Synchomesh or should I stick the regualr oil?

Oil I was going to buy
Royal Purple SAE 5W-20 Royal Purple SAE 5W-20
or same but in Amsoil

the transmission uses the Motorcraft Dual-clutch trans oil. I wouldn't use any third party fluid.

So oil isn't the same as tramission oil?
I'm thinking they are the same thing?

you're thinking wrong, and thinking like that is how people trash their cars. different transmissions require different fluids depending on what they were designed for. Your car, a 2014 with the MT82 6-speed manual, calls for Motorcraft Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid. and nothing else. They've also issued a TSB for 2011-2012 model year cars to replace the original gear oil with the DCT fluid to fix cold shifting problems.

when in doubt, read your manual.

And that is not the same thing as your motor oil. Your engine, transmission, and differential use 3 different oils. I'm just clarifying this as in your post it isn't clear as to if you realize the difference.

Agreed, I feel like royal purple is overkill and more of a thing to brag about rather than actual efficiency, I usually like to keep things as OEM as I can unless the OEM part is faulty in which case I get a upgraded version from a third party.

Thank you for the responses. Yeah, I was reading online and it sounded like motor and transmission oil were the same. Guess not, how often do I change my transmission and differential oil? Are there mustang how-to videos on this forum?

It does get confusing because different manual transmissions/transaxles use different fluids. Our mustangs use the aforementioned DCT fluid, which as I understand it is a single-viscosity synthetic gear oil. The transaxle in my SRT-4 used ATF. I've seen some that actually did use 10w-30 motor oil. Like I said, if you don't know, check the owner's manual. If you just assume, and guess wrong, you can be in for a world of hurt.

As an example, countless numbers of Chrysler A604/41TE transaxles were trashed because people just assumed they took bargain basement Dexron III instead of the ATF+4 they required.

Guess not, how often do I change my transmission and differential oil?
c'mon, man, your owner's manual is in the glove box. it'll tell you that. That's why Ford gives you one.
