Totaled 2005 looking at 2014 gt
Sunday night my 2005 was totaled after I was hit in the rear and driven into the car in front. No one was hurt except my car . I am looking at getting a new 2014 GT and I see premium gas is recommended. Can you run regular 87 octane without any problems. My issue is I get my gas at work and they only have the regular 87.

I've been running 87 in my 2014 with no adverse effects. As it gets hotter this summer, I may need to upgrade if I have any pinging but so far, after 6 months of 87, my gas mileage hasn't even changed! I may be able to run it all year and I will as long as there is no pinging.

I'm considering a 2014 myself,so I asked the salesman-he's a real Mustang high perf guy-very knowledgeable. My understanding is that regular is fine for average driving. If you're driving with gusto, premium will yield the maximum horsepower.I think that the car has a knock sensor-it will adjust the timing to prevent knock-naturally that will affect the performance.

You can run the GT mustangs with Regular no problem. the few points in a higher octane would be wiser, but If you're going to go to a GT mustang. do yourself a favor, and put good gas in it. would you drink ****ty water when you're thirsty, or cook with dirty dishes? I have a tune on mine, and all I can put in it is premium. 91 or bust.
If you leave it stock, you'll be fine bro. if you run it hard and or mod it, you'll be wise to use a higher octane.

If the 14 has a knock sensor, it'll probably adjust to 87 and likely you'll never know unless you try some premium.
Our '94-96 Caprice police cars had the LT-1 350 and they used knock sensors and they adjusted timing back at any sign of preignition even before a driver knew it. When the Dept first bought them they were stocking premium in our office tanks ..... later in about '98 the decision was made to stock regular 87 octane as costs were going up fast and the '97 and newer cars were CVs and were setup to run 87 anyway. On premium they (LT-1s) had more power, even sometimes breaking traction through 1st with police junk in trunk even, where with 87 they had some less low end power and actually were some better on back roads and damp surfaces. Top end wasn't hugely affected though, it was in lower range where the change in fuel was noticed. Fuel mileage was about same either way in patrol driving (100 miles interstate round trip in my county and I checked it all at least twice a shift) or travel status (training / court / etc).

Thanks guys. Jhawker how do you like your gt
My 2014 is optioned to the hilt. Very few things is does not have. I'm really enjoying the car although it is way more car than I care to handle full out at this point. (1 year). My 2010 was fast but manageable. The 2014 GT is a beast right off the lot.
