Trany Service???

that's a fair price for your tranny service. Beaware that when u beat on the car your tranny oil will get hot. The oil will leak out on the bell housing of the car. Not sure why ford did not install a catch can but they didn't. Anyway, just be aware of that. Its not a huge deal but something to think about. JDM sells a nice catch can for the trannys. I would also suggest a PA deep tranny pan. Easy to install and then you can check your tranny oil.

I did my own tranny fluid & filter change and installed a dipstick so I could refill easily. The stock pan has a drain with integral snorkel for refilling. This snorkel extends about 1" up into the pan. When I changed mine, I measured the amount of fluid that came out with each action.
1) Removed snorkel plug - 1.25 liters drained
2) Removed drain plug assembly- 1.6 liters drained
3) Removed pan - 1.65 liters residual in pan.
Total fluid required for refill - 4.5 liters.
So it appears my Tx was overfilled from the factory but I wanted to replace with the same amount of fluid that came out. The top of the snorkel is apparently the proper level for the Tx fluid.
I got some hydraulic fittings and hose from a local shop. With the pan off, I drilled a hole in the passenger side of the tranny pan and installed the fittings & hose and routed the hose up into the engine compartment. I also got a Tx dip stick at a wrecker. So now its easy to check level now and adding the fluid without trying to pump it up into the snorkel is the way it should be. Not sure how they put more in than what would go into the top of the snorkel. Anyway - the Tx shifts fine. After refill with 4.5 liters, I put the dipstick down the hose and marked the Tx oil level so I can check oil level now too.
I guess no factory dipstick so you have to take it somewhere to get it done - not!

Here is the link to the deeper pan with dipstick - $360 in case you're interested.
