Is it so hard to follow the Ford maintanence manual. 7500 mile intervals and that is using conventional oil. Synthetic is good for at least 10K miles maybe 15K with filter changes in between.
I have a V6 but my manual states every 5K and it also uses synthetic. I find it odd they say 5K and then have an oil monitoring function that says the oil is still fine at 5K. Makes no sense to me.

No, it is not normal, I don't care what they say. I had a Cadillac STS with the Northstar that used a quart of oil every 1K miles and GM always claimed it was within normal usage. But we all know that's BS. Ford is probably using the same logic.
