Default Throttle hangs at 4000RPM at WOT

2010 Shelby GT500 ~75,000mi

No matter what gear I am in, when I floor it, the tachometer almost always stops at 4000RPM OR comes back to ~4000 after being higher. The boost gauge seems to stay where it should (8psi). What could be causing this?

This happens with Autotrac On, Traction Off, and Sports Mode. I noticed there is no clutch TSB as there was for the 07-09...

Thank you as always!

It could be a throttle body issue, but if it stops exactly at 4,000 everytime then I doubt it. I'm sure someone will be along soon that knows exactly what is wrong.

Thanks. I JUST had the cats knocked out, but it was doing it before. Never had this problem with my catless 07.

Does the engine stay revved up or is the tach just sticking at 4k? Does the tach suffer from stepper motor failures like the other gauges?

It's more prominent now and seems that the engine will rev high and not provide oower to the wheels. I smell clutch, so I'm assuming it's going out.

Please tell me there is a clutch TSB for 2010's?

One more observation... I can leave the car in gear, let off the clutch pedal, and the car doesn't die. Seems like the clutch is staying engaged. Anything I can do short of towing and getting a new one?

Thanks!

Sounds like the clutch is gone or completely glazed over. Either way gonna need a new clutch

You run the risk of destroying the flywheel if it isnt already scorched. There is also the chance the clutch will completely let go leaving you stranded in the middle of the road in traffic.

I agree with the others.

A short trip on a flat bed wrecker is much cheaper than damaging other components. Call around to several tow services and see who will offer you the best price.
