Default Cams and Heads

Hey I was thinking, does anyone know anything about new heads and cams for our 4.0L? I heard Flapjack was doing this and I was wondering what anyone else knew about it...

That's some expensive stuff... I wonder if it's worth it... I bet the instalation would be either a pain in the ***, or really expensive as well...

I'm sure that it's worth it in the long run
when and if you decide to go F/I with the car.
But I do believe it would be a B!tch to install,
probably have to have someone do it.

Yeah I hear you there. I intend on going F/I and was hoping to do it next year, probably around spring to mid-summer. I wanted to install the Supercharger myself because Powered by Ford wants about $1,000 JUST to install the damn thing. I could just imagine how expensive it would be for the to take the engine half apart to do the heads and cams... Would they have to lift the engine out of the car to do that??

That question's out of my range, but
if I had to guess, I would say yes.

no need to lift the motor, the heads are on top . it will be pricey...probably just under 1k. if you ended up doing heads with a pro install you might as well go x-charger if you are worried about total cost with install. with heads and cams, the x-charger could be a MONSTER and you could do the install yourself or with a friend. think about it this way. say you make around 320-330rwhp with the x. youd be running consistant low 13's easy imo probably hitting 12's on street rubber and it would be a BEAST on the street with all the low end torque it makes. that's what i would do personally.

You're talking about the install for the X-charger I could do myself right? I talked to you about that before. How hard do you think the cams and heads would be to install. My dad used to do all that stuff back in the day because he worked in a speed fabrication shop for years but he's scared to do it now becuase the new cars are newer and there's more technology and so on. Oh I noticed that you were 16... I'm 17 lol and I thought that was an interesting concept Now you know you're not the only youngin on the forums!

Ya I'm sure u wouldn't need to lift the engine I don't think the insallation would be that difficult as long as you know your way around the engine.

Lol! I'm 18 that's pretty funny. Where's 19!?
Later on down the road, I want to put on an X-Charger
cause of all that low end torque......it sounds like a really
fun street setup.
