Default Power Window issue, driver side only

Just got the car out of storage, the battery was dead so I charged it. No problem.....But as soon as the battery charged I opened the door to get in and the window went down 3 quarters of the way instead on 3/4 of an inch. When I got in and used the power window button to close it it went all the way up and then back down to 3 quarters open. I can't get the window to stay closed...Please advise. Is this a up down issue....Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

I'd bet there is a sensor that supposed to stop the window when it reaches either end of the travel. This sensor must be bad or out of adjustment. Sounds like it is a dealer issue, unless someone has experience with one.

How do you like the Granatelli coils? Do you notice a difference?

I agree that the window is a Ford dealer issue.

I would try disconnecting the battery for a bit and then reconnecting. If the problem is still there, grab the owners manual. In it, you will find how to reset the "window crack" asI call itprogram. Hope that helps.

5lb sledge on the window switch panel . Seriously, you triedresetting the window function?Have you tried hitting the auto down and when it reaches the 3/4 stopping area, push down a little on the window. It sounds like the auto down/auto stop feature is wacked out.

Hey Casey, Yes I tried the recalibration like the manual said and it did not work. The problem is as soon as it gets to the top when using the auto up feature, it automatically goes back down to like 3/4 open. The manula says to hold the auto up for 2 seconds after it reaches the top but as soon as I do that it goes down automatically. Tried resetting the battery as well. Looks like the dealer is in my future,.....Please someone help!!

I believe you have to cycle down, hold, up, hold, then down and hold again. At least that's how I get mine to finally work properly when it stops behaving.

Don't use the "auto" feature. Hold your finger on the button when you push it down and keep it lifted when you lift up.

Hey Dot, I hear what your saying, but even when not using the auto up feature as soon as the window gets to the top it automatically goes back down. There is no way to hold the button up for 2 seconds because as soon as it gets to the top it goes back down. I actually can get the window to close all the way by not using auto up but if I try to hold the button up for two seconds it automatically goes down again....Very frustrating!!

YEAAAAAAAAA, just found a fix on the net. Power window motor memoryhad to cleared prior to using Ford Manual "Bounce Back Fix". The only way to clear the memory was to diconnect the battery WHILE the window was either opening or closing....Very Strange but it worked the first time I tried it!! Thanks to all who responded.Below is theentire post of the fix just in case someone else runs into this problem in the future......

Hello, thought I'd share this fix I found on the Internet for power
windows on 2005 - 2007 Mustangs. This happened to me last week when I
hadn't driven the car for 4 days or so due to the holidays, the damn
battery went partially dead. The owners manual calibration wouldn't work -
it kept bouncing back down instead of calibrating when in the window up
position. Unbelievably, it requires two people to do the job (mutter)
friggin' engineers...

ISSUE:
Some 2005-2007 Mustang[/b] vehicles may exhibit issues with the functional
power window features including one touch up, short [/b]drop[/b], and bounce back.

ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition if the root
cause is incorrect or no window initialization of the Smart Window Motor.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Perform a de-initialization procedure of the smart motor / side window
glass[/b], followed by re-initialization procedure.

NOTE: WINDOW RE-INITIALIZATION MUST BE PERFORMED WITH THE DOORS CLOSED.

NOTE: ON CONVERTIBLES, WINDOWS COULD BOUNCE BACK IF THE SIDE GLASS[/b] IS OUT
OF ADJUSTMENT. REFER TO THE WORKSHOP MANUAL (WSM), SECTION 501-11.

NOTE: CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT THE DOOR SEAL OR MIRROR SEAL IS NOT ROLLED
OVER OR BINDING. ALSO, THAT THERE IS NO OBSTRUCTION IN GLASS[/b] SEALING AREA
AND THE GLASS[/b] FIT AND/OR REGULATOR MECHANICAL FASTENING IS NOT LOOSE.

DE-INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE

De-initialization (un-learning) of the smart window motor clears the
memory of the module and shuts off the One-Touch UP, Bounce Back and Short[/b]
Drop[/b] functions.
The smart window motors can be de-initialized in two (2) different ways:
Disconnect the battery cable from the battery WHILE THE WINDOW IS MOVING.
Remove the window motor fuse from the Power Distribution Box WHILE THE
WINDOW IS MOVING.
After performing one of the above procedures, the smart motor must be
re-initialized, see Initialization Procedure.
INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE

INITIALIZATION MUST BE PERFORMED WITH THE DOOR CLOSED! (For convertibles,
top and the quarter glass[/b] must be in the up / closed position.)
From the window switch, perform the following steps without stopping:
Operate the window UP and stall for 2 seconds. (Hold The Switch)
Operate the window DOWN and stall for 2 seconds. (Hold The Switch)
The smart window motor will be initialized and one-touch-UP and Short [/b]Drop[/b]
will be operational.
Cycle the window glass[/b] an additional five (5) times to set the window
"Soft Stop" for the down position.
TIP - VOLTAGE RANGE OF OPERATION: 9-16 VOLTS (AT THE MOTOR)

The smart motor will ONLY function in the 9-16 volt range; if the voltage
at the smart motor drops below 9 volts, the window may not function
properly or prematurely stop moving
If the voltage drops below 9 volts while the motor is moving, the motor
will become de-initialized (one-touch UP and Short [/b]Drop[/b] will be
inoperable)
If the motor becomes de-initialized due to low voltage, see initialization
procedure. for instructions
