fyi.......have you looked at your manual, the '11 v6 is using the full synth. by motorcraft that is why if you created your ford owner account it says first oil change due at around 9,000 miles

I've always been a every 3,000, but if that is what ford says , then we'll see how long motor last, my '10 GT, i ran mobile one changed every 8,000 for 30,000 mile did see a little better mpg's and no smoke, no noise, and I did not baby it, so check the book, save $$$ cause a every 3000 synth, can get costly when you can drive 3 times that, actually it's every 10,000 recommended
For your convenience, your vehicle is equipped with a message center
which determines the proper oil change service interval. You should
perform the engine oil change as indicated by the instrument cluster
message center. The message center will display ENGINE OIL CHANGE
SOON or OIL CHANGE REQUIRED to indicate when an oil change is
needed. The engine oil change service needs to be completed within two
weeks or 500 miles (800 km) after the OIL CHANGE REQUIRED
message is displayed. Your oil change service interval can be up to one
year or 10,000 miles (16,000 km). Reset your Intelligent Oil Life
Monitor™
If your message center is prematurely reset or becomes inoperative, you
should perform the oil change interval at six months or 5,000 miles
(8,000 km) from your last oil change

Actually, the 2011 V6 runs Motorcraft 5W20 Synthetic Blend from the factory ... manual says you can either continue on with that or switch over to FULL SYNTHETIC (5.0L may leave factory with FULL SYN though).
I ran 5W20 Mobil 1 in my 2004 3.9L V6 Mustang and changed every 10k miles ... drove car for 6 years 126k miles with no problems what so ever.
First oil change in my 2011 was at 1500 (Motorcraft blend), but then switched to Mobil 1 at 5k miles. Will change this at 10k miles and then go 10k miles per change after that.
Both the 3.7L & 5.0L 2011 Mustangs have very tiny oil filters (even smaller than '94-10 V6), so for peace of mind I may be changing my filter every 5k miles and a complete oil & filter change every 10k.
If you don't drive your car 10k miles a year and don't drive it in the winter, then you should change it every Spring. If you do drive year round but mostly stop & go, then you may want to change it twice a year (Spring & Fall) regardless of miles.

agree, but there are two listed and I was told mine was full syn. and with 3000 mile on my ride I'm at 94 % on gauge so i got another 6000, heres how reads as well under 3.7 L, then scroll down into 5.0 say full syn, but 3.7 indicates both, so just going w/ what i have and they say full synth.

My 10 v6 manual says oil change with semi-synthetic every 7500 miles, when I was around 3500 miles I called the dealer to inquire about their recommendation they suggested every 5000 miles. Mine is the base model and don't have a message center. I'm a little skeptical about going too long with out an oil change, grew up changing oil every 3k miles. With synthetic I feel comfortable at every 5k and I will stick with that! In less than a year I have changed my oil 4x(just rolled 20000 miles)

we all grew up w/ the every 3,000 but face it, like harley, you run that sucker onhardly any oil pressure so w/ all the tech. nowadays, they have got this stuff down, why does the company ford tell you every 10,000 and call dealer they say 5,000 ....they want you there 4 times a year not 2.....if it blows up or starts smoking at 30,000 and you have done 3 to 4 oil changes, your covered lol
