Default 05-09 GT or 2011+ V6?

I currently have the V6 from my signature, but, she's getting worn out with 230,000 miles. It's time for an upgrade.

The 05-09 GT and 2011-2012 V6 is within my price range. Both make similar power, but the V6 gets 30mpg on the highway which is important to me because I commute.

I wouldn't mod much other than cai, big front brakes, tune, ring & pinion, exhaust, single-piece drive shaft, and a suspension kit.

Considering all the above info... what should I get?

Considering the above, I would lean towards the 3.7. Go test drive one of each anyway.

I was in a similar situation, and had a 07 convertible. I went with the V6 coupe and LOVE IT. And yes, you really can get 30 MPG with it if you drive it sanely. Which isn't as much fun, but very practical for commuting. Or a lot of fun when being a bit more impractical.

The other thing is that the V6 handles a LOT better than the V8s IMHO. Taking all that weight off the nose leads to much better chassis balance.

Go for the V6, and if you can find one get the Performance package.

Depends on what type of person you are. If you are truly a car junkie, the V8 is the way to go. No replacement for displacement . I bought the V6 over the GT because it was a "family" car, but damn, I do regret it lol Sure, 305hp is more than enough, but the V8 sounds great, pulls great, its just a classic engine you have to experience.

Since you commute, I would go V8. But remember, the gas savings are minimal IMO. Not too big of a difference.

I've owned many genuine small cars. a Honda 600 sedan for one. 2 cylinders of a blast. I've owned 7 Mustangs all V-8s. these are not small cars. they are almost boats! without a snorty, get the hell out of my way V-8, I would not want it. Then again, I come from a time when a real so called muscle car sometimes had less h.p. then the newer V6's. "style" or "style & smile", 'sup to you...my stangs have to make noise. As the Harley riders say, me being one..."LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES"!

The V6 is the finically sound and practical choice. It's cheaper too insure, better fuel efficiency, is newer thus more reliable. If you have too think about it that tells me you have one way you're leaning already and I would go with the way you're leaning.

From what you described you're looking to do with the car I would suggest you go with the newest, lowest mileage V6 car you can find and afford. You can always get an 8 later on when money and mileage is less of an issue.

I'd go with the newer v6.

It has a lot more improvements over the older v8.

Better, quieter ride, better fuel economy. Newer car.

I think the best answer is test drive both.

if your not planning on doing much modding and you daily the car, go V6

but the V8 will always have more potential if you are modding.....and any suspension mods on the 05-09 cars are going to feel much more drastic as the stock kit was terrible.

don't worry what people think, get what works for you. won't go too wrong either way.

for me it's easy, I'd rather have the v8 for my needs, but mine is a garage queen with 16,000 miles on it and many many suspension mods so......
