Default Sorry, gears again

After reading through everything I could find on here about gears, I'm still confused.

On the 3.7s..what seems to be the best gears to get for the automatic vs. the manual? I have the auto with the stock 2.73's Thanks in advance for your input.

autos in 05+ mustangs have a higher first gear (and second gear in some instances) than their manual counterparts, therefore typically you will find the max for each as:

Auto: 3.73
Manual: 4.10

Hm, might have to reconsider! Still on the fence in regard to gears for my auto. 4.10 or 3.73. I heard 4.10 is overkill and I might actually lose performance.

If I had 2.73 in my car and was going to do gears I myself would not go any bigger than 3.55.
I do not drag race, I road race so a 3.73 gear makes you shift more, the 3.31's I have now are just a little off for what I do but in most cases 2nd and 3rd are most used.
Also I always heard the other way on the gears, 4.10's are for an auto and the 3.73 were for the manual. First gear is already a waste with the 3.73's and a manual trans IMO.

You have to consider the gearing in the transmission when looking at the rear end gears. With the automatic, anything over a 3.55 rear end makes 1st gear pretty much useless. The car will shift quickly out of first before you can get through an intersection.
