painting valve covers?
my dads valve covers are like, screwed they look horrible. - how hard is it to remove them and what exactly are they made of, are they plastic like the intake or aluminum or what? and has anyone else painted theirs with any success?

RE: painting valve covers?
Is it a GT or a Cobra? GT valve covers are not too hard to remove, and if i am not mistaken...they are plastic. Cobra valve covers are aluminum I think. Someone painted theirs blue when doing an engine rebuild. They looked really good, but they were in a white car. I couldn't do the same to my car and make it look good under the hood

RE: painting valve covers?
The gaskets are rubber. Then ones that are OEM are black but Fel-pro makes blue ones. They are nice. Just loosen the bolts all the way around the valve covers but don't pull them out. The gasket keeps them in place. When you replaceit put thegasket in the valve cover first then push the bolts though to keep the gasket in place. Then set the valve covers on the heads and torque to spec. (not too tight)Use a small dab of RTV where the heads meet the timing chain cover.

I painted mine blue with white stripes. Easy to do but taping off the lines will make you go cross eyed for awhile. I think they look good in my white car.
