Default Halfway thru 351W swap

Just thought I would share some progress.

old engine and trans are out
have the new short block
cam, oil pan, timing chain cover are installed and ready for heads.

Should have it put together and in the car this weekend,
probably fire her up first thing next week.

Here's the build up specs:

351W - .03 over for 357ci - true 1994 roller cam block - 13cc dish forged pistons - ARP bolts - stock crank and rods - 0 decked
AFR 185 heads w/ 58cc chambers for 10:1 compression
CompCams XFI 236HR-14 stroker roller cam (.579/.579)
CompCams beehive springs
TrickFlow 1.6 roller rockers
TrickFlow R 5.8L intake w/ 3/8" intake spacer
70mm TB and 76mm MAF
TrickFlow fuel rails
FFRP oil pan kit
Shorty headers
Off road H-pipe
Flowmaster 3 chamber cat/back
All smog and EGR stuff still in place and working.

i dont know what size headers your gonna run, with shortys
i couldnt find any in 1 3/4
with 10.1 it will run better with turn downs and full legnth 1 3/4 headers
i know you know what your doing so i dont want to sound like a know it all, because im not.
i have a 408 in my mustang, about the same setup, daily driver.
i had 1 3/4 full legnth headers ,2 chamber flow masters,2 1/2 pipes all the way out with tail pipes.
i took it too the track and it ran 7.50s all day long not spinning on slicks.
i took it back to the muffler shop and put 3 inch flow master turn downs on it
and it ran 7.28 and i missed 4th gear right before i went across the line....driver error, and new shifter...
thank God for msd rev limiters lol
just trying to tell ya what i went through, so you dont spend more money than ya have too like i did.
looks like a good set up ya got, hope it runs good, good luck!!

yeah, exhaust is a little restrictive, but got tired of spending money
on the swap so opted for just some simple 1 5/8" shorties and the H-pipe I already had.

Plan on turbo later anyway so the long tubes would just be waste.

I actually got a shiver down my spine when I saw that pic
Thanks for the update.

I am still running the 1 5/8 shorties. It is a choking point, but I can live with that for now.

I expect you will be happy with the XFI cam too.
I can't wait to hear what you think about it.

yeah, already sold all old the parts including the BBK intake ....... lost about $400 total in not just doing
this to begin with ........... oh well, did get some use and fun out of the old parts, so no biggie........

and yes everything is same on the swap for you, only real difference between our cars is the outside sheet metal

Alright guys, thanks for the help. Going to look for a 351 roller this week. R.barn, did you have trouble getting your hands on one? Whats the difference between roller and non roller besides internals? Is there more parts for rollers?

I just asked to make sure my short block builder used a roller block.
Supposedly they are a little hard to find and my builder charged extra $200 for it, but didnt hold us up on delivery or anything.

there are ways around it for sure, by getting a custom ground cam and using the cross linked conversion lifters.

Late model roller blocks also have a 1 piece rear main seal, another bonus.
