stock 351W mains will stand up to periodic blasts to 7200rpm (mine did quite a few times during its short lived life in my car). just keep in mind that the windsor has a 3" main bearing and revving that high is quite a lot of bearing speed. it will work, just keep it in mind. the great thing about the DART block is they have the 2.75" 351C main bearing size.

its not like a 302 block which is like holding a hand grenade with the pin pulled at 6500 rpm...

If you have the proper Main and Rod bearing clearance,a 3.00" main, has no problem turning 8,000 rpm.

Also,a 302 with proper clearance will rev higher. My Capri engine w/302 mains makes peak power at 9400 rpm on ocassion has been as high as 10,000

are we talking stock blocks, or aftermarket. because i would pay to see a stock 302 block rev up that high. aftermarket no problem but stock?...

as for the OP, solid roller, and some good valvesprings. that should do it.

has everything you need to let her rip.
oh, if you want to go to 7000rpm, you need to neutral balance your crank and rotating assembly.

Before aftermarket blocks were made, many cars in stock eliminator and super stock have done that. They don't make ma passes, but have done it.They also use stock rods modified to there liking and will make as many as 40 passes that way.

ok, for the weekend warrior, i can see using a stock block for cost purposes, but he wants to DD the car, so ix nay on the stock block if a 302 based engine is in the works. 351W will do just fine with a stock block.
