lets see though...

other than the longtubes (didnt fit)

intake manifold hitting the hood

throttle nightmares (considering the biggest SN is a 75mm)

having to do a fox TB conversion

finding out the exhaust hit my clutch fork after i (finally) got the headers to fit

there as a bunch of other crap.

it is NOT an easy swap like some might tell you, nor is it as easy as a fox.

the only thing is the front accessories bolt right up to the heads.

im sticking to 302 engines forever for now on...

ouch you could have gotten the distibutor from the parts house for 83.00, an 92 f-250 with the remote mount tfi has the circular plug for the sn cars! i`m not getting the improper fitment, i sat a 351 in my 95 andd checked fitment of alot of stuff before i had the dist issue! the 302 shorty headers fit but rubbed the steering arm, ofcourse the hood wont close a 302 with a tall runner intake will hit the stock hood! with the mounts, double sump pan and right headers i see no issue, true i didnt finish mine, but that is because i didnt want to buy a 700$ intake and 380$ distibutor!

no i didnt make a typing error i found the 83$ dist about a yr after i decided not to do the swap lol!

They make shorties for a 351w swap taht will miss the steering arm all together!

That k-members are the same and the engine bay is a bit more roomy so what else were you having trouble with???

you cant do much other than what came with a 5spd car anyway! without getting the extra room of an auto!

i know the K members are the same, but the headers were the biggest problem.

honestly i wasnt going to choke my 357W with shorties, i got 1 3/4 into 3" longtubes. (my build had ported Vic Jr heads, Vic 5.8 intake, 10.8:1 compression, XR292 solid roller cam, etc etc, shorties were going NOWHERE near it)...

and no way was i going to auto swap my car, EVER...

oh year, there's that whole 100 extra lb thing, right over the (already) heavy nose...

What does your car run anyway? What's with all the negativity toward a 5.8?

I dropped a 5.8 in my car with no trouble and used 1 7/7 inch primary headers that are long tubes with plenty of room. I used stock style energy suspension engine mounts. I used an MSD distributor and 6AL box. I went carbureted as well.

I used stock crank, stock rods, stock iron heads that are ported with a flat solid cam that cost me 138 dollars. Pistons cost me 205 dollars. I was too cheap to buy a power adder, so my ride is natuarlly aspirated. I also had to use a dished piston to keep the iron headed 5.8 from detonation on pump gas so my compression ratio comes in at 9.8 to 1.

The 5.8 dropped in the car and fits like a glove.

Care to ponder what this street car runs at the track??

well, it was faster than my 308, but i never had it at the track.

it was in for about 2 weeks to get a feel for how it felt before it went into my '33 FFR Hot Rod.

as for it fitting, dont forget i have an SN, its nowhere near as easy as a fox, dont ask me why but nothing with these 2 years is...

as for the track, i dont particularly care how fast it was, it was quicker than all my friends car except my buddies built 2JZ Supra...

i used a neutral balance crank, H beams and flat top KB pistons.

Fox Lake ported Vic Jr heads, milled down to 55cc chambers, ~225cc intake runners,
stock Vic 5.8 intake,
75mm TB and SN TB adapter (mistake),
then an 90mm Accufab fox TB,
Lightning MAF,
42#'s,
MAC 1 3/4 - 3" longtubes, 3" OR X, 3" tails first with Magnaflows then Pypes Violator mufflers,
and a bunch of other crap...

i have no issue with the 5.8, and love going in a straight line, but im building my car more for a nice street car thatll handle good (hence the IRS and 331 im building), and with that combo itll be really close to 50/50 weight dist.

and ill be happy with high 11's at the track when i go...
