Any info on putting sleeves in a 351 W?
A friend of mine is really into anything ford with a 302 or 351 and told me that he has a 351W bored .060 over. he has the block, crank, rods and pistons. the motor WAS in a running Bronco (might be wrong on that), but currently sits apart in his shop on the floor. I checked out the block and it looked decent but has light rust on the cylinder walls and the main bearing caps.
i can have everything for free, BUT he says it would need to be sleeved because .060 over is just pushing the block too far, especially with boost. he couldn’t even make a guess as to what sleeves would cost, so what do you guys think? Should I grab this?
I’m thinking this would be the perfect starting foundation for a twin turbo fox. I would NOT be using the crank/rods or pistons that he’s including. internals are cheep enough that I shouldn’t have any issue saving up the cash for some forged internals. BUT i have never dealt with anything ford related so I’ve got no clue how much it will cost for machining, or even if there are any reputable shops out here in CT.
What would you guys do? Is this a deal, or just going to turn into a huge headache?
EDIT: im an idiot and put this in the wrong section. but i cant delete the post... so its kinda stuck here. sorry about that.

sleeving a block is fairly expensive...probably about 40-50$ a hole maybe more....youd be better off just getting a 95-97 351w out of a truck its already setup for a roller cam....

a sleeve around here runs about $200 when all said and after they deck the block and all. so with that being said. you can take the block and have it sonic checked to see how much is left in the bores to see if it would be safe but .060 is a lot for a small block Ford. if it was me I would just find another block that was standard bore and start fresh. with boost you are gone to want a nice ring seal and gone with a used block that has many miles on it is not a smart start. bar none. 351w block are not that hard to come buy. and if done right will handle 700+ hp without issues

you can find complete 351W's on craigslist for 1-200 bucks.
F4TE blocks (94+) are set up from the factory for hyd rollers too.
