here we go
alright guys, have a 351w in my 88 fox. this will be my first motor build (yea im a noob). its not my first rebuild so i know how to build it just not too sure on what parts to build it with. it has a f303 cam victor jr intake and a holley 750 (yes i know its way to big but it was on the motor when i got it). also has bbk unequal length shorties. ok the plan is to throw some boost at it. im building on a low budget so im trying to keep it simple. also this will be daily driven so it must be reliable.
to start with, i have heard gt40 heads are a decent upgrade, but will they work with the f cam. also what rockers and springs?
next is the rotating assembly, i beam or h beam rods? and im guessing forged pistons over hypers?
any and all info appreciated, basically im looking for a baseline turbo setup, also is there a way to delete posts?

IF you arent going over 10lbs of boost just get some decent pistons and use the stock crank and rods.
With the gt40 heads specify which ones there are too many to guess! If it is the iron heads, not really a decent upgrade on a 351.

I would look into some cheaper TRW forged piston over the hypers any day. The gt 40 heads will work fine with a turbo on the 351 is there better yes but if you are on a hard budget and cant swing the better heads they will do but think of it like this also when you want to move up some more the better head is gone to offer that for you. Turbos dont really need great heads to make good power. Yes they help as on any engine. If you want more power raise the boost. as far as rods I am not a stock 351 rod fan though I have seen some good power made on them. I would up for the H beams again now there is lots of room to move up. with the forged pistons and H beams 800 hp is not out of the question if you want to turn the boost way up. The blocks and cranks are so much better then 302 stuff. Why low boost besides fuel? run as much as you can safely have a wastegate controller so you can have more or less boost. a BIG advantage of a turbo compared to a S/C. What size turbo you looking at ?

Well on the hypers i have seen them do things alot say cant do. My last set survived 150 shot for 3 yrs, this current set are about to see a 200!
I have seen plenty of turbos on alot of stock mustangs which are hypers, exept for a few yrs, and they have been seeing upto 14lbs around here!
but hey if you get a good set of forged cheap by all means!
I have seen a stock bottomend 351 with 300 shot on it! the rods are good one less thing you have to waste money on unless you are gonna get wacko with boost levels!
