Default need a little help on a 351 build/swap

i just picked up an 83 glx 5.0 5 speed t-top, 01 explorer motor fms shortys xpipe 2.5 to 3 inch tips. 3.73s brand new lsd 6 puck clutch.

i like the car and it gets up purdy good. but i had a 35th anniversary edition camaro. and lets face it i cant have that.
so i am very fimilar with fords, just trucks ive always had lifted trucks and this is my first car.

i have a 351 roller motor from my 96 bronco that needs a bit of cleanup, and help. the thing rattles and smokes a little.

i was hoping a cam, the gt40p heads, exhaust, good intake and possibly the 670 holley thats on my car now. im not looking to be the fastest but id definetly like to be faster than i am now.
the p.o said he did a 13.5 at 103 with the street tires.

gt-40 anything heads on a 351w = bad juju... you get MAYBE 20-25 mpre HP, and 100lbs more weight...

Not a trade i'd make.

look to a 185cc or larger head, cam over .560" lift and 230+° duration, and a 750-850 CFM carb.... minimum

any more info. i have gathered the 351 would be better than the 302 durability wise as well. im really on a tight budget and if 400 cant happen now then that is fine as well

impossible to figure, new vs used.. etc etc etc

You need to figure in the extra engine parts you will need (conversion kit), the new exhaust pieces, the fitment (hood space), the effects it will have on your drivetrain (SROD and T5 wont stand a chance)... etc etc etc

BASIC ball park figure, for me... $5000 is what I would budget. Plan on it being 50% more... just incase!
