Default Home made turbo charger kit

Alright, i have a good feeling this out of my reach, but atleast i'll get a little more educated on this. If you're just going to flame, dont bother replying.

Now then, lately I've been very interested in forced induction in my 07. I've been reading up on alot of different online stories of people making their own kit with some sort of success, but i'm wondering could this be cost effective compared to buying a kit.

What i'm looking for is a single turbo, nothing fancy or completely over the top. I'm not looking for a huge amount of boost, or horse power, just basically a "Cool, it runs, it's added some power, time to take it apart and maybe make it better." kind of thing.

At this point, i have some fairly basic automotive experience, with access to a large amount of tools. I CAN READ INSTRUCTIONS/MANUALS. I have some basic welding experience, and strong electronics skills. I'm willing to take as long as it takes to read up or study up and research on how to do this.

Now, is this possible? i'd be willing to spend about as much as it would have taken to bought a turbo kit premade for it, but i'd obviously not like to spend quite that much. All tuning would be done by a professional tuner.

thoughts? where do i go from here?

thanks.

Get a hold of "one eyed willy " or just do a search of his posts. He did his own turbo build.

How homemade are we talkin.
Building molds and molding your own components
or off the shelf stuff cobbled together?
A good Wideband A/F guage and some sort of datalogging
would be the first purchase....

wait what?..

im mostly talking about piecing together my kit.

when you say it wont be easy, do you mean the actually building will be difficult? or just the getting all the information/parts being difficult? that's what im mostly confused about.
