Default Headers, worth it?

Im looking into modding my exhaust as the next step on my car, at the current moment the exhaust will be the only thing done, duals, X-pipe, and Borla ProXs mufflers, BUT more will come later, debating (if my "car" money is enough) adding stage 3 heads an cams to the car, CAI, and tuner later next year. Are headers worth adding to the car? will they make a power difference? volume difference? I would think they would have little affect at first but may have a biggere affect with the other mods.

They'd help a little with a supercharger. Not so much n/a.

SSM stage 2+ heads made an awesome dyno but are expensive. Stage 3 with cams may have daily driver problems.

as for headers, I have shorty headers. tone change and got a little better, picked up a little in the midrange but not really anything on top. JBA did a dyno and show a small gain at the wheels with shorty headers.

Long tube headers are better for sound and performance but cost more and require more mods to work. Cats, if required will have to be relocated and you will need to buy O2 sensor extenders.

I have thought many times about going with FI or heads and cams. It all is just too expensive for me. In the end my plan is to buy another car, buy a wrecked GT with a good engine and swap it as my first project car. It will cost about the same but also be a lot of fun to do in the process.

Intake, heads, exhaust and tune should bring you up just past a New Edge GT in performance though and for my DD that's where I want it to be.

I think some of you guys are confusing heads with headers

OP, which are you looking for info on? Or both?

I talked to Supersix about theri stage 3 heads/cams, they said they work very well for the daily driver. WITH THE PROPER TUNE, its heavily reccommended the car be tuned for them heads/cams.

i found satinless steel shorty headers for $199. I was curious about how it would affect the cars sound, as well as performance. i would expect to see the headers help more with a modded engine.

You might want to check out the eBay short headers that are around $75 a local friend of mine put them on his 6 and I checked them out they are actually pretty good quality, they look similar to JBA's.
