Yeah plus it's only been mild here lately. I'll be doing a few trips (Atco in Jersey and Cruise in Weekend in MD) soon, so I'll be able to really test it out

Nice write-up, put some more keywords (4.0L, 2006, 2007, etc.) at the bottom of your OP so that it shows up in a google search.

Doesn't sound right, consider you probably won't feel any difference doing this mod but it doesn't hurt to remove 200 degree coolant from flowing through your throttle body. Consider the factors in the environment you are driving your car that could make it feel slower one day compared to another....

Why didn't they do this on the engine assy line? Have something to do with the TB function? I'm not a scientist, just curious.

I did this mod on my 2005 V6. Been doing the same thing even on my previous cars. The coolant heats the throttle to prevent ice from forming inside the throttle. This if for cold countries. Since I'm in the middle east, it doesn't get cold here. Even gets 50degC during summer. So removed that coolant line, even the metal tube thing that draws coolant from the engine and goes into the heater core of the climate control inside the car. Aircon works better with out it. I used 2 pcs water caps to plug the fitting on the thermostat housing and the water pump. My engine bay looks cleaner with out those hoses.

Default Thank you!

Old thread but I just wanted to say "Thanks" for the detailed pictures and step by step instructions - well done!

As a Middle Tennessee resident, this mod is not optional - it's critical. I had noticed the bog down of the car during the summer and thought perhaps the air filter needed cleaning - nope. Instead, it was the throttle body cooking the already warm air!

Also, it pays to mention that hey - you have the throttle body out of the car right now, wouldn't that be a GREAT time to get some throttle body cleaner and a toothbrush (Your wife won't mind, honest) and clean out all the gunk that the pre-heated throttle body likes to collect?

Thanks for the post I was having trouble replacing my TB because the new ones didn't have coolant connections. The bypass and pics did the trick.
