Default Just Purchased a BBK CAI

Just wanted opinions on the CAI.

I bought it from American Muscle, the link is below:

I do not have a tuner, but I'm planning on buying one in the near future.

I had one before I went FI and it improved throttle response slightly and that is about it. Prepare yourself to get riddled with "Oh what a waste of money the BBK is" ect. In the end though its your car, and what you can afford but the BBK does little to nothing performance wise. Most of the performance gain comes from the tune itself.

I thought about getting the BBK CAI myself because of the looks, but decided to go with a COMBO KIT (CAI and Tuner) instead. But as Redfire mentioned and my understanding, CAI's are worthless without a Tuner. The BBK's do look very nice though, just wished it came as a COMBO Kit for a reasonable price.

You will want to get a tune with that BBK, otherwise it just looks good under the hood, that's about it.

I made the mistake of falling for the BBK gimmick and ended up getting a tune a few weeks later. It's debatable if your car will throw a code running lean. Mine did. If I could of gone back in time and did the right research, I would of just bought a tune required CAI package instead. You get a little more bang for the buck.

Yeah my plan was gonna be to get the sct tuner as soon as possible. But as stated above didn't find a combo deal. Another couple of paychecks would be nice

Mine never threw a code (only once but that was because I didn't connect the PVC tight).

I got a tuner/tune a year later. I would definitely suggest getting a tune, but it's fine without for the time being. I went with the BBK because it looked the best IMO and was going to get a tuner down the line later anyways(which I ended getting on sale so it worked out cheaper)

Consider yourself riddled.

I have one also, bought it mainly to improve the looks under the hood for shows. The first 6-7 months it ran without throwing lean codes then after a long trip it started throwing codes no matter what I did I couldnt get them to stay cleared for long. For the winter and emissions test I put back on the stock intake and codes went away. I contacted BBK about the issue as they said, it was a "no tune" CAI, but if you want the full performance a tuner would help. They had no real answers why it started throwing codes after 6 months.
