Default Sound when accelerating

Hey everyone, I own a 2007 V6 manual transmission mustang, it currently has 64,000 miles on it. I don't beat on my car, or race it so I'm not sure why the problem occurs. But here's the description: When at a dead stop, I put it in first gear, let off the clutch and accelerate, on acceleration for about 3 seconds I here a weird winding noise, its not a squeak, but it only lasts for a few seconds then its over. I'm really not sure what this noise is. Could anyone help?

Thanks!
Brian

If you've not already.... swap out the transmission fluid for synthetic. It seems to cure many of the woes of this transmission. Yeah, I was quite skeptical... but doing it sure made a believer out of me.

Hey guys, Gear noise definitely sounds like what it could be, sounds like its coming from the middle under side of my car. besides a transmission fluid swap, what else can be done to stop it?

How did you fix your gear noise?

I changed the trans fluid on mine at about 120K. It was pretty dirty... but that's to be expected. The Mobil 1 synthetic I put in there did wonders. Quieted the trans... shifts considerably better all around. I would start there. It's not too difficult a process at all as you can refill it from inside the car easily enough. Search around.. there's an illustrate (photos) How To in here somewhere.

I'm very happy with mine since having done so. Like a completely different trans altogether. Shifting improves vastly! As to noise... I can't recall as it's been a while but the synthetic being as "slippery" as it is will reduce friction... which should reduce noise.

As to noise overall, I suppose pursuant to the range of manufacturing tolerances of all the components... it would certainly vary from unit to unit. If this is something that developed recently... could be something amiss... even a low fluid condition. No leaks under there?

Good luck sorting it out.
