Default Rough Idle

I have 110K on my V6. I just got it last May. It started to idle rough about a week ago and I can see the gas mileage being effected. I changed the plugs (original I believe) Fuel filter. Gave the TB a good cleaning and put in some fuel system cleaner and injector cleaner additives in a full tank of gas. Still got the rough idle. Next I am going to change the wires. found some Motorcraft from an autoparts store on E-bay for $57.00 shipped. The dealers here want $108.00.
Thanks for any help and input.
Matt

Do you have the stock airbox with air filter? If so, have you changed the air filter in awhile?
When you cleaned the throttle body, did you also clean the MAF sensor?
Maybe a bad fuel pump or fuel line is really gunked up?

Did you allow that proper mix of fuel system cleaner to do it's job (ie, run as much of that full tank of mix to near empty) and did you do it again? When there are issues, I prefer SeaFoam vs. Techron, the latter of which I use at every oil change or 10k miles, whichever comes first.

Be sure the air filter is clean as Kevin mentioned and that there are no blockages in the air intake plumbing. Typically, a rough idle is cured with a good TB cleaning. Perhpas you should redo that.

OP,

Definitely make sure the TB is cleaned thoroughly, as these guys said. Also, I don't see any mention of you cleaning the MAF already? If that's the case, pick up some MAF cleaner at your local auto parts store and apply it sparingly. You issue most likely remains between these two components.

Let us know how you make out after!

Thanks guys. I did clean the MAF and the TB. Put in a new air cleaner and cleaned out the air box.
I ill get some more additive for the gas tank this weekend.
It seems to be at it's worst when I have the AC on.
It is not a rough idle like the car the shaking all over the place. It just has a very annoying vibration to it. Just not smooth at all as what one of these new cars should be. I do not remember it being like this when I first got it.

Have you had your battery and alternator tested lately?
Make sure the charge is holding and everything is working as it should.

Are you getting a check engine light for this issue? If so, have it scanned for any code/codes to pinpoint the exact issue.

I remember when my battery was going dead, my car would not always crank up on the first attempt. Also, when I turned the A/C on, I felt a vibration, like it needed more juice to keep it running or something. Just a thought.
Good luck and keep us posted!
