Default Police Interceptor motor

I have a '96 police interceptor motor from my old crown vic, i was wondering what its worth, it was ran low on oil and seezed, not blown, would not crank so i think a piston got stuck in a wall or a crank bearing locked up, complete engine minus coil packs, was wondering what its worth an i have a friend maybe looking at it for a parts swap to a 96 mustang GT, please tell me honest price of what it or parts are worth
thanks, new member

My friend might be putting a blueprinted police interceptor motor into his 98GT. Are those motors more powerful than the normal Crown Vic motor? They seem like they would have some get-up and go. Whats the HP rating on them supposed to be?

id say 500$ at the very best. i dont recal there being anything too special about police interceptor motors, the cars themselves had suspension upgrades and other little stuff like transmission coolers but the engine isn't built up or anything.

So what exactly does "blueprinted" entail then?

4.6L Police Engines have forged internals... at least the police here do.

That's it? my friend just got in a wreck in his 98GT with 120k miles (an idiot lost a wheel on the highway and it hit my friend's car, its bizarre I know). So it was towed to the shop and they informed him that they had a blueprinted police interceptor motor that they could not sell because it's "government property". It supposedly only has 3k miles. The reason it was pulled was because it had a worn valve spring.... They said they will give him the motor for free if he pays them to have it installed. Anybody smell anything fishy here???

lol i have worked on a lot of interceptors and the only diffence the 4.6 interceptors and a mustang gt in 96 was the cooling systems and the charging systyems the engines are baiscialy the same same heads and internals. for once cody is right.

from personal experience, i have race my old police interceptor vs a plain crown vic and won, its not just cause of suspension or cooling, they have alum heads on some an all police interceptors have bigger intake and exhause valves than a crown vic and a mustang, i dont know why none of you people have ever swapped the heads of a police motor, especially if you can find them real cheap (cause performance heads from a aftermarket coompany might be better yet) but i really supprised here people
