This may sound like a noob post, but i searched the forum for it and no real answers.

I'm wondering what the Advantages/Disadvantages are of having upgraded gears

gas millage goes down, and if u plan on racing any imports on the highway u will most likly loose cause your top end is slower to come and not as high. but on the other hand is that on the strip or somwhere they are awsome for a N/A car and as long as u have good tires ull have great launchs. (in the rain you will have bad traction)

Disadvantage - Lose SOME top end how often are you going be going 130+? never...
Advantage - Makes ride more enjoyable because you have more power at your foot, faster acceleration, lower 1/4 time.

More enjoyable is an opinion not a fact. There's many ppl who don't like 4.10s b/c to them its less enjoyable having to shift from 1st to 2nd so soon. Basically not having a 1st gear.

But yes you do get faster acceleration.

i have never heard 1 person complain about 4.10s except there to slow.

I love my 4:10's. Everyone says gas milage goes down, but mine actually stayed the same! Babying it I still got 21mpg in the city. But on the freeway is where you loose it.

So to me there's no disadvantages, but for others that drive on the freeway there may be.

How many of you have had gears installed?......................thats what i though

if you mean top SPEED, then it will actually increase because it will allow you to use 5th gear and bury the needle, your gas milage will flip flop (highway milage in city, city in highway) but you should still be able to get 20 mpg.

by the way i like 3 73 gears because i do alot of highway driving. and soon i hope to upgrade to a vortech s trim blower and 4 10 will be too much gear
