My foot is made of Uranium or something. I get anywhere between 14 and 17 mpg on a given tank of fuel. A lot has to do with how much traffic I sit in as well. But, I enjoy the car, and like to go WOT when I can. (Probably why I'm rough on tires, too.)

These cars are meant to be driven but like any performance car there are sacraifices to be made.
Traffic is a killer and so is jack rabbit starts.
One thing I have found over the years though is that you are almost always better off choosing the biggest (within reason) motor that the dealer offers for a given car.
Why?
Less stress on the motor and since you have more power to accelerate you are less likely to be nailing the throttle every time you get on a highway or try to pass a car.
Several times in my 48 years on earth I have opted for the V8 motor and friends opted for the v6 motor in the same car.
Despite the EPA estimates, I always got better mileage.
1979 Camaro.
Chrysler LeBAron Coupe circa 1979 and RWD (can you say "Corinthian Leather" , let's see how many get that one).
1992 Caprice.
2003 Caravan (large V6 vs small 4).
etc...

I can second what he is saying, in the summer tho for me. I went to Cleveland which is around 120 miles. I filled up rite before I left and when I got there I filled up after I got off the freeway and I only filled up 4.1 gallons. So the gas mileage he is talking about isn't unheard of. I also was doing excessive speeds in OD tho .

I drove my 2001 Gt 195 miles one way to Indy for a race at ORP back in May. It was 90% interstate so I set the cruise at ~80 mph and only had to slow a few times for traffic. Once at the track I made 3 passes with a 150 shot running a best of 11.95@115 before calling it a day. I filled up in Indy for the trip home and did the math....results were 24.5 mpg[8D] Not too shabby for a car with 4.10 gears hauling an large toolbox, floor jack and extra wheels/tires. So I can see 29+ under certain conditions but that kinda defeats the purpose of owning a peerformance car

you guys are just really bad at math if you're getting 30 mpg from your car while cruising at normal highway speeds (70-80mph) on a flat road. maybe if you were going downhill for 300 miles @ 50 mph, you'd get better than the epa ratings, which are actually higher than what you can get in reality on a flat road.

I don't think my math is off dude. Its basic division, but yeah it just matter on certain conditions. With a .62 OD, you get the point.

I may not have the fastest stang on the forum, but it is sure easy on fuel! My mods have yielded even better mileage! I'm pricing now an SLP catted X-PIPE, anyone know who has the best deal? So far, I've gotten $395. Shipped, and I need O2 extensions. Or, cut and splice my sensor harnesses. Any advice?
