False. I thought that too up until about 8 months ago.

Here is a 96 Z28 as an example:

EPA Fuel Economy:
City: 16 – 19 Highway: 25 – 30
Available Engines:
200-hp, 3.8-liter V-6
285-hp, 5.7-liter V-8
305-hp, 5.7-liter V-8
310-hp, 5.7-liter V-8
Available Transmissions:
4-speed automatic w/OD
5-speed manual w/OD
6-speed manual w/OD
check into it the 6 speed gear box is the only manual one avaliable with the LT1 engine otherwise its the 4 speed auto w/OD. the 5 speed is for the other engines. nice try but you were right about 8 months ago.

I'm with 03' Red on this one because i just went to Kbb.com and the only option it gives you is a auto or 6 speed manual.

Did they make 6 speed LT1's?
totally. all the LT1 manual's were six speeds. they actuall have a "fuel saver" in them that if your not over 35% throttle, it will force you to shift directly into 4th from 1st to "save fuel"(GM economy BS). this was easily bypassed by simply un plugging and capping the wire on the outside of the trannie. just some jee whiz info i picked up when i had mine.

The 5 speed is for the Base V6 and RS.

I think you will lose on the top end if the guy can drive and the car is in good running condition. You can probably get him off the line, but as I already said, if hes a really good driver, you may lose. Dont forget that hes got 325ft/lbs of TQ. And how awesome the LT1/LS1 pulls up top.

People need to learn how many gears a car has before they buy or sell one. Its 6 speed for sure.

Hey- My buddy just got a 94' z28 6-speed, and i have a 99' GT Automatic...... The 93 - 97 z28's put out 275 hp v.s. my 260 hp and i wanna know if i have a Jlt RAI+Accufab Tb+Plenum combo+SLP lm1 catback+Steeda underdrive pullies, would this be enough to get me the win? Oh yeh and he is stock by the way...for now anyways.

Thanks
So he is 100% bone stock? If so you'll prolly have him by a little but nothing extreme. Tell him I say stop talking up his car. He's making us Camaro drivers look bad. I'll run him in my 81 camaro if he is in PA. But if you do win I don't see much to me bragging about beating a stock 94 Camaro. The first 3 years of the forth gens were crapt compared to 96-97. Good luck thou...

well they do well a 94-97 trans am 6 speed, to all you cobra owners you should know this he has a t-56. My roomate owns one. He has a 95. Well one thing you have on him is he has skip shift and that screws up a LOT of trans ams because they have to wait for the skip shift to back off before they can shift to 2nd, second i do not think at all that he will be even close to 275 at the rear wheel. Well one thing that we have above the older trans ams is technology, we have way better throttle response and we have more hp to the rear wheel. So i think that you have nothing to worry about. You should be able to play with him like a 4 year old. I do it all the time to my roomys 95 trans am.
