LOOSE, belive me i know my Mustangs and im 19. Ok, i know for sure its the Throw-out bearing. My GT did it, my dads Cobra did it and the throw out bearing let go before i could replace it. Also when i replaced it i replaced clutch also. Might as well, when youre in there

Casper,

I have had the same rattle on my 96GT for years. I don't really see any problems other than that annoying rattle. Does this need to be replaced? Approx what is the cost? Thanks.

RUSS. if it makes some serious noise, then yes replace it asap. or youre pony wont move. if it has been making noise for years now. then deal with it. its just not lubed as it should be. so it will let go sometime. as far as cost. maybe a 20 dollar bill will cover the part and labor is around 70$ an hour at my dealership. not sure how long to change. But if you change it youre self, then yeah take the weekend to replace it
