Compression Ring Gap

Compression Ring Gap
I am in the process of assembling my engine and I have conflicting specs about ring gaps. One book says it should be .0039 in and another spec sheet says it should be .006 to .018 in. I am running a 10 PSI supercharger on it and I am looking for some advice. The current ring gap is .016 in which seems reasonable. The .039 in seems kind of high.
Thanks,
Adam

RE: Compression Ring Gap
I would recommend going to your local library and getting a copy of a true motor manual. Not a crappy chiltons because ive dealt w/ those and they are WRONG! There the big blue books they have everything in them. I dont know who makes them but there the books used in shops and stuff. That should give you all the specs you need and if that doesnt help call a shop that builds mustangs. Like livernois... im pretty sure there out of michigan i could be wrong. But there name is Livernois.

RE: Compression Ring Gap
A repair book will only give you stock specs. On a forced induction engine you normally run a bit more ring gap. But I have to ask what number are talking about? because you say.0039 first and then .039, there is a big differance between the two.

RE: Compression Ring Gap
I'll check out the library and see if there is anything available. I plan to call a couple places on Monday to get some advice from people that regularly build these things. By the way, I completely agree with you about the chilton's books. I have found so many mistakes in there that it makes me not trust anything else. Perhaps I should invest in a shop manual myself...
Anyway, the Chilton's book says the gap should be .039 (39 thousands), while a spec sheet I got for the engine (off the internet because the chiltons seemed wrong) says it should be between 6 an 18 thousands. My original ring gaps when I pulled the engine out were about 10 thousands.
Thanks for the advice, I am off to do more research.
