for $1500, i would try to piece together the parts you need, and do the swap. I've heard of guys putting together a swap for under $750 and doing the labor themselves. If you are capable of course. And with the extra $750 you've saved go get gears.

i find myself in the same situation. i barrowed 1600 from my 401k. (just couldnt wait any longer) im going to go intake tb/plenum, prochamber catted borla back, and underdrive pulleys.

2.) Short throw shifter
3.) 4.10 or 4.30 gears

well for about 1400 i got:

bbk cai (i got it online but watch ebay)
bbk t/b, plenum 75mm (local speed shop)
airaid t/b spacer (i'm returning because it's for stock and i didn't know that)
borla stinger cat back (ebay, new in box 480!!!!!) (that's frickin cheep for borla!
predator tune (also ebay, for 200.

but hey, if you pick the right cams you will make more power than all my mods together, and you should have enough left over to do a catback and maybe a tuner just watch ebay for those 2!

DOnt forger the other associated expenses.
Injectors,TB,catback,fluids,gaskets and a safety margin incase something happens while the install is going.
