Is a belt tensioner something that is just going to go bad immediately without starting out small and progressing to this? Also, when do these things start going bad? My car only as 39k on it and I dont ever beat on the car.

i just guessed the belt tensioner because mine is starting to go bad as well. They do go bad after a while but it probably shouldn't be a problem if your car only has 39k on it.

replaced the c&l intake tube with the stock one and no more sound...thats the only thing Ive done recently so i thought Id try that and it worked. Why this worked I have no idea. When i checked the oil and pulled out the dipstick there was a rush of air like pressure was being released.
