Default How Long Do 4.6s Last

Hey, Just wondering how long a 4.6L lasts... I know imports have a better reputation at high mileage than domestic cars (ecspecially ford) but how long have people seen a 4.6 or 5.0 run for?

I'm looking at a 2000 gt with 110k, and a 1999 gt with 118k... too many miles? Thanks a lot

Providing that the previous owner kept up on the oil changes and that he maintained it pretty well, the 4.6 motor should last a good long time.

I've been burned, and I've had success, when buying high mileage cars before. Before you do it, just think about this: How much are you paying for it, and how much are you still going to owe on it when you decide to sell it. If you plan on having the car for 3 years or so, or say 30-40K miles, it will have 130-160K miles. Will you be able to sell it with those kind of miles, to pay off what you owe, and maybe have a little equity built up to use on the purchase of your next car? If so, then it may not be a bad purchase at all, as long as you take care of the car.

OHC modular motors are long lasting. I've seen some trucks with the 4.6 and 5.4 with 200,000+.

stangs usually get beat on a little more, so they don't seem to stick around as long.

those cars have too many miles for me to buy them. i wouldn't just worry about the motor, the rest of the car is probably starting to suck after 120,000 miles.

I think it was abused for most of it's life before me [:@][:@][:@][:@]

soooo I'm savin for PI Motor

but if you don't abuse them they can see 300k without any problems

my 1998 has 152,xxx miles on it and still runs amazing. It gets raced all the time. Still runs 14.4s in the 1/4 with the mods and such. These motors will last awhile.

have you taken your valve covers off monkey? maybe your heads look like that dam guy's. other then that my only guess is.....you check in the V of your engine, lol maybe oil is leaking there and just collecting, lots of room there =p

maybe you shoot it out your exhaust when you drive =p

exhaust tips oily?

the modular 4.6 with the pi heads and manifold is a really good engine its like any other car depends on how it is driven and if the mantance was kept up or not, you can put me in any car and if i beat ill kill it in under 10k honda or ford so it depends on the driver and if you keep up on the mantance
