Lets see.... I owned a 98' F150 Nascar truck that was a 4.6 auto w. 3.73 gears, cold air intake and a Rouch exhaust. My 02 Gt has a 4.6, stock gears, flow master cat back exhaust, short throw shifter, 70mm tb. and a drop in Fram Air Hog filter and they are worlds apart! My stang would literally do laps around the F150.
On a scale of 1-10 to me the Nascar would rate a 7[sm=smiley13.gif], while the Gt gets a 9.[sm=smiley20.gif]

You can't compare the truck and car like that. The truck is a lot heavier. That doesn't mean the engines are not close.

True, true...... The only reason I bought the truck was because I couldn't find a stang that I liked and one of the reasons that I sold it was because it wasn't a mustang.

The engines should be basically identical.

The only thing I am not sure on is the cam grind, but I think that is the same as well. I don't think they were rated the same, but that might have to do with the tune/exhaust etc.

nope, not the same. The 4.6 that the newer F150's use makes like 231hp/293tq and I know the whole intake assembly is different because I had an 04 F150 with the 4.6 and it was completely different than my 04 GT and the 05 gt.

Everything should at least bolt up heads/intake/block wise.

I know for sure you can do 5.4 swaps from trucks and you have basically 4.6L PI heads still. The thunderbird also had a different stock 4.6L intake, but everything would bolt right up.
