ordering my cams finally
well i am ordering my cams tonight alone with my 4.10s. woohoo. i have decided to go with vt stage 2 n/a cams. i know you wont see all of the potential of the cams, but i want the sound of a cammed mustang also. ive heard that their are no sound difference with the stage 1's. actually i have 1 question to ask. the stage 2 n/a crane cams see their full potential from 1250-6000rpms, if that is true should i go with them or just get the vt 2 n/a cams that are 3000-6000rpms?? will be ordering the cams tonight. also getting comp cams springs

Do not expect a real cam'd sound with a straight thru muffler.
You will be fine ordering the stage 2s. The power difference is minimal but you would PROBABLY make more under the curve with the 2s.
The most important part is the tune. If you don't get it dyno tuned, just forget about it.

Don't order your cams based on sound. After hearing several cammed 4.6's, you just dont get that idle you think you will. With every cammed 4.6 I have heard, I have yet to be impressed. Thats why I decided to stick with a stage 1 cams, no valve springs are needed and the stock tune will work.

Are you sure you don`t need to tune the car after you install them? I heard that you need to.

The stage 1's sound good when your right behind the car, but it's hardly noticeable more than 10 feet away from the car. And according to vt engines, you don't need a tune with stage 1 cams. I would most likely get a tune anyways, but you can get away with not having a tune with the stage 1's unlike the stage 2's.

Here is my clip with the blower on and the car set to low idle. Even way down at like 750 RPM it just doesn't have that real heavy musclecar cammed sound:

A baffled muffler would help out some, but you still won't get that "350 barely will idle sound."

I really think it's the ohc design that doesn't give you that old muscle car sound. My buddy has an e303 cam in his 94 5.0 and it sounds amazing at idle. I just don't think these mod motors are gonna give you that idle everyone looks for like a pushrod motor does.
