Default top end speed of 3.73, 3.90's

title says it all, whats the top end speed for those gears, i was thinking about the 4.10's but if anyone wants to race me for more than a 1/4 mile and goes faster than 120mph im screwed, i want somthing with quick accleration and good top end speed, i know i cant have both, i heard the 4.10's are not good for anything over 1/4 mile did i hear wrong?

i am thinking of taking out my 410s for more cruising speed, i think 373s would do nicely.

You heard wrong, and besides unless your on a closed track racing top speed is foolish. I can a good street race from a stop light or even a low roll to say, 110 or so but your foolish to think that your Mustang (unless you have really, really upgraded the suspension) is a capible high speed car.

I have 3.73 in my stang and it has a decently potent top end. It pulls hard all the way to 130. I couldnt tell you about after that, mainly because i havn't gotten it past that lol. Not enough open road. But it seemed to want to pull even more out of it before i had to decel.

i am doing full suspension, but that will come later, and my mustang will be a high speed capable car, my 5.0 had no suspension and i max out my speedo just fine, it was very capable. but i will do all of my races on a track, street is too risky, i dont want my car impounded.

I have 373's in my 2002 gt. i just went for a cruise on the freeway and mine pulled all the way to 100 mph no problem. why you would need to go much faster is beyond me. if you have'nt shown your dominance by then you should'nt be racing. i 2nd the suspension thing. If you hit a good size bump at those speeds you better hold on for dear life. I enjoy cruisin about 60 mph in 4th and hittin 3rd and hammering it and watching evrybody get smaller in my rearview mirror. anyway, have fun but be safe! lata!

04 gt with 4.10's... My car pulls all the way beyond 120.. Had it to 145 (ONCE) and I won't be doing that again until I get my new meat and suspension and even then I doubt I'll be going that fast lol..

4.10's won't sacrifice top end..... Well maybe a little bit...

Top speed with a 5-speed??? No way... Or is that the fastest you've been?
