Do you need to buy heads before cams?
Ok, so i have been throwing around the ideas of more horsepower and think i would like to take the next step with cams. Now, my question is if i buy cams, and THEN want to buy new heads that are ported and polished, will i have to make sure the heads are compatible with the cams? OR should i buy the heads first and then the cams, or should i buy both together? thanks all.

To answer your question, you can buy any 2v cam you want and install it (and valve springs if needed) and then later down the road if you wish to upgrade your heads they will swap over to the new heads

it doesnt matter what order you do them im. just get what your budget allows for now and save up for the other. it would be cheaper to get both installed at the same time because a cam install on heads that are already off the car costs very little.

I had the same issue...i chose to wait and buy heads and cams together but if your just getting a mild cam like VT st 1 or Comp 262ah which won't require a spring upgrade then you can get cams now. Also i don't like tearing into an engine too many times so i try to get everything done at once.
