My friend in the car club has a brand new GTO. I have 4.10 gears in my car as one of my biggest mods. I raced him from a stoplight on the way to St. Augustine, and I was slightly ahead of his (heavier?)...but when we got on the freeway, he tore me a new one!!! [:@]

GM knows the GTO's are ugly, but when they killed Camaro and FireBird (thanks to you Mustang guys 
), there was such a huge outcry for another GM sports car, that they had to do something quick. Not to mention they had the LS1, and nothing to put it in. They have been working on the new Goat body for sometime now, but no way was it going to be ready in time, and that's why they went with the current body/chassis. Underground rumor has it they're going to release the next generation as an '07 model year, along w/ a new Camaro. No more FireBird for awhile though. RIP 
Of course GM is super tight lipped about it as usual, but that's half the fun. Oh, and and the new cars are supposed to be comming equiped w/ the 400hp LS2!!

There is no confirmation that the new GTO or Camaro will put out 400hp.
The GTO will be getting subtle changes for 2005. Possible hood change, spoiler & rear bumper.
Even Pontiac has said they didn't have enough time to make the changes they wanted for the 2004 Model year.

Dan's right, so don't take anything I said as law. It's just underground rumor at this point. The LS2 has been showcased though as of this year, so maybe it was just deductive reasoning that started the LS2 GTO / Camaro rumor. Again, just to clarify.... Rumor and skuttlebutt only.
