I am trying to find a fuse to tap my radar detector into and I was wondering what GEM stands for. Is it on all the time or just when the car is turned on?

One big piece of advise, dont use that. It runs all youre electrical devices. Tap it on youre audio fuse. Thats what i use

How did you tap into the audio fuse...the only fuse taps that i could find at radio shack are to thick and won't fit. I would tap into the wire itself but it is in the middle of the bundle and I just can't get at it.

Im not too sure where you can get them but i work for FORD. And when i installed a plow they give you one in a kit. FISHER sells them. They loop on the end of the fuse and they stick out of the topof it. Its a great invention. I dont know if there is a FISHER plow place in youre area

why wouldn't you use the same fuse your cig lighter is on...or just use your cig lighter to power your detector?

The cig. lighter has power all the time. I need one that only powers up when the key is turned.

Casper98GT What you described is identical to what i got from radio shack it just won't fit in the hole with the fuse.

I am getting a multimeter tomorrow and just stab some wires and tap into the one that powers up when i turn the key.
