I have a 98 Gt, 5 speed. I have replaced the clutch, coil packs, spark plugs, wires, well, you can read my signature. But i can go through the 1/4 mile and no hesitation. when im on the highway i will be in what ever gear, then i let off, and then give it some gas, i will get a hesitation. I dnt understand it. I give up now. Only thing i can thnk is maybe a MAF.If i going alon normally through th gears im great. Then if i go along and let off, then punch it i will get a hesitation. Anything will help

Yeah...Preferred power band.
I actually have that same problem. Just when it's not completely warm. Once it's completely warmed up, it runs perfect. Sometimes leaving the driveway, it bogs for a second, then pops and goes fine. Then when I shift into second or third, and give it about 1/2 throttle it bogs really bad and if you're not expecting it, you almost fall out of the seat.
I've been over this 1000X with people on boards, Ford dealers, ect...Nobody can seem to explain it. I've tried the new plugs thing, and the only thing that seems to help is using really good gas. We were going to the track the other day, and I had 89 octane in it. I threw a few gallons of 100 in it to even it out a little, and the problem was gone.
It's baffling...Try putting 5 gallons of race gas in it with 3/4 of a tank of regular. Just make sure it's not leaded. If you're not sure, usually anything over 100 octane is leaded. 107, 110...Always leaded.

"your car is just out of it's power band".
I wasn't sober.
The reason I say this, a few members struggled with the concept of Ford having a noisey/loose drivetrain.
I have a stumble from a stop occasionally. Sometimes downshifting and getting back into the gas it'll bog for a split second.

RE: Hesitation in my 4.6 SOHC
Im nt running headers. And i dont think its out of my perfered RPM range either. Because i can be doing 65 pug in forth gear let off and then give it some and it will choke. It just rocks the car back an fourth. Then i will run back up to par. Sideways explained it almost dead on. I always run 93. The highest. And i did try 110 at the track and still does it. I've hooked up the WDS on my car and then brought it on the highway andmae it happen. I can do it when ever i please.lol. And on the power balance test, i can get it to spike in different cylinders all the time. Its just weird. I can downshift and rip by someone. But if im just going along at the same RPM, then punch it i falls on its face. It stopped for a while after my plugs, and coil packs.

Yeah, gee sorry. I didn't use correct terminology. Sorry Mr Moderator.
"your car is just out of it's power band".
I wasn't sober.
