SMOKED BY AN M3....
a friend of mine with an M3.. (240 hp one) wants to race me but we never got around to it... But just the other day.. he was cruising on the highway and he pulled up on a GT and raced it.. this GT has only aftermarket exhaust and the M3 is stock... It was about a 60mph roll and they took off... it was even for a while unit they hit around 120 and the M3 just started to walk-off on the GT... is this correct??? caz i have an intake and an exhaust and i was wondering if i could hang with him throughout the whole way.... and how about 1/4 mile... has n e one raced the old M3s before???

Sounds about right. I'm not a stang guy, so please don't take offence to my question, but I've heard this story too many times. When do your cars 'run out of steam' as far as MPH goes? I've been in quite a few squabbles w/ you guys on the freeways, and the faster we're going, the easier I take the race. Most notably there was a vert stang that was modded obviously, and very fast... but after about 120mph it was like he was stuck or something. .... Oh, and back to your story... take what your friend said w/ a grain of salt. If he won the race (which I'm sure he wouldn't lie to you), his adrenalin was going so hard, he probably felt like he won by a larger margin than he did. If I were you, I'd have no fear of the M3. But even if they are faster.... it just gives you your first hurdle to go over.

Mustang Gt have a speed limiter. He may not been able to go pass 120mph. Needs a chip or programer to turn it off. My car was limited to 112 before I turn it off with my tuner.

Some were speed limited, some weren't - I think it depended on your options, like tranny type and tire size - Im not real sure on the particulars though. Either way, the limiter - if there was one - would be higher than 120 though.
The M3 is more more aerodynamic than GT, and when you get going that fast aerodynamics are just as important has hp - so I believe it. Also, I've driven an M3 (almost bought one before I got the stang) and they pull as hard as a GT from a stop (at least to me it felt like it).
