Default cobra or GT..?

Hey guys, im looking for some technical advice on my new project. A very clean 1996 white GT. I'm going to do a head swap and was wondering if you can make a SOHC into a DOHC, perferably the 99-04 heads. And if they do fit, do the front pulleys and all the electronics match or need a total make over. Any and all advice is appreciated, thanks.

Complete pain, everything from timing chains (primary, secondary), chain guides, sprockets, heads, cams, valves, (not sure bout piston clearance) intake, computer tune (if not the whole computer) and MUCH MUCH MORE...just get a crate engine...POSSIBLE but its not worth the money/time IMO

well i dunno im still looking in to also - the parts fit, but the compression is a little different... if you can buy the heads cheap then its worth it, Im lookin for 03+ heads to buy.. it makes the s/c really cheap.. but the tune is the hard part... I dunno wut to do - Id like to think otherwise but my brain says its going to be cheaper to s/c the GT - forge the internals and just pp the stock heads... that setup will hold 700-800 hp but I just want the braggn rights of havn a 4v (and what ever is cheaper

anything over 600 will blow the engine. You will have to forge the internals, and get a lot of reinforcement, the best thing to do is get a sc and get about 500 at the wheels and some gears and make the car sticky. after that you start to make the engine sticky and wanting to bust.
